    Default Crashing

I am having similar problems. Spybot is crashing consistently at worldsecurityonline.FakeAlert (31114/66930). I am not running Norton.

    Please advise.

    Default Me Too

Ditto, hangs up during scan after re-boot, in response to trying to clean out command service and smitfraud. Does anyone know how to fix any of these 3 problems???? Thanks, Lou

I also am having this problem. I am running XP2

I havent had this problem ever before.. have had spybot for years too!

What is the problem?.. Do you think it's something with the update?

My computer completely shuts down.. as it hits a certain point in the scan.
    Same point every time.
Only started doing this TODAY.. after I downloaded the updates.... (?)

    Re: my above post

I just tried to run another spyware scanner.. (Ad-Aware se)
and my computer shuts down with it too!

Do I have a nasty virus.. causing havoc?.. do you think?
I tried to do a system restore.. back several days.. to no avail.
Same thing happens... COMPUTER SHUTS DOWN at a certain point

    BOTH programs

I suggest you read the first few posts in this thread. In particular:

Yes... read everything on the thread nothing applies to my situation.

I unistalled Spybot and reinstalled it (with all the updates) and ran it today.. worked fine!

    Wonder what's up with that?

I have yet to try Ad-Aware.. gonna do the same thing uninstall and reinstall
and see if it fixes the prob with it too.

My fans are running fine.. no overheating..
I have no other probs on my computer.. with any other application
and when I ran Spybot, it only found one bug on my computer..
and fixed it pronto.. was a CoolWeb thing.

I am now having no problems.... will let you know if it starts up again.

Yes! It absolutely worked for Ad-Aware too..

I uninstalled.. reinstalled and voila.. ran it with no shut down probs.
Ad-Aware found 4 bugs.. one insignificant and 3 attempted browser hijacks..

I believe it was one of the few found viruses that was messing with my system.
I had one last year that shut down my antivirus program.. was a mess!
My computer eventually crashed with that one. Had to take it in to get reset.

    What a headache..

(hope I caught this one before it made another mess)..

Today.. after running my update.. I now AGAIN.. had the same problem with Spybot shutting down my computer during a scan. Up until today.. I didn't have that problem and have downloaded several updates via that time. I am still skeptical that it.. MIGHT be something in the the odd update that may cause this (?) due to it ALWAYS happening after the update (??)
