Default Re: items not clearing from DNS cache

    Thanks for the reply Tashi.

Not sure why I need to start a new thread, but here is my HJT log.
A couple of sites have been put into the trusted sites zone because of a problem that frequently occurs where one has to use ctrl A to get into a text entry box. A few sites where text entry is often required have thus been 'trusted'. Otherwise, some 'persistant offenders' like Google Update, have had their folders deleted.

As I am just the 'manager' of this pc, I cannot vouch for all that is in the log, and I am surprised that there are still mentions of McAfee, as I thought I had removed this, when we switched to Avast.

Anyhow, much appreciate your casting your expert eye over:

    Edit:
Not sure why I need to start a new thread, but here is my HJT log.
As said in forum faq, our volunteer analysts look for topics without a response. One of them will help you when available.

    Default Update: loopbacks

More reading up, and I learn that the items appearing in the DNS are to be expected from loopbacks from Spybot's own adding of 127.0.0.1 to some of the hosts file entries.

However, while on the subject of hosts files: this latest update of Spybot has brought back a problem that the last Spybot update created: which is to cause our Hosts Secure, to put up an irritating 'needs jit debugger' message on start up. So it looks like I need to reinstall this each time Spybot is updated.

Still be interested to know if there is anything odd in the HJT log though.

    Cheers,
    S

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance) http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

You must have read and followed the "Before you Post" instructions, anything else will waste your time and mine.
If you still need help, read the directions so you can see stuff like this:
Posting additional comments or logs before a volunteer responds, can push you back instead of forward, because your thread ends up with a newer date. Also, helpers may think you are already being assisted because of the post count.
Ask questions about Spybot S&D here:
    http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=4

If you have malware issues, post a new HJT log (after the directions are read and followed) and describe those issues. Post any error message you receive word for word.

    Thanks

This is proving to be more time wasting than the fault itself.

Perhaps Spybot is no longer for me.

I am puzzled by your response? I am a volunteer, I don't work for anyone, though I have been a Spybot S&D user for many years and I certainly appreciate that the creator provides it free. I responded to your query by giving you the best possible information I could. What you do with that information is certainly up to up.

    Thanks

Well all I've seen is several attempts to get out of providing me with any advice, during which time I have answered my own question with a more detailed web search, while all you have done is whinge about protocol and send me round in circles.

And still nobody has made any attempt to explain either this, or my earlier question as to the 'jit debugger' problem, which as I have noted again above turns out to have been caused by Spybot itself interfering with my Hosts Secure application during its updates.

It seems that any simple question is avoided by a request to post a hjt log instead of actually reading what is being asked.

    Thankfully, there are other fora.
