    Default Malware blocking updates

The malware I'm trying to remove is blocking updates. Also blocks browser access to the main Spybot site. Is there a manual updater file someone can supply to me?

    Hello okiewild

    Welcome to Safer Networking.

While best efforts are made to assist in removing infections safely, unexpected stuff can happen.

Not sure what your infected with, this is what I would do.

Run Malwarebytes, if the site is blocked, then download the program to a known clean computer and copy it to a CD ( not a thumb or flash drive ) install it on the infected computer and run the program. Then at that point you should be able to install Hijackthis.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
    • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
    • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
    • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
    • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
    • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
    • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.<-- Don't forget this
    • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.
    • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
    • Copy and Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a New Hijackthis log.

Download Trendmicros Hijackthis to your desktop.
    • Double click it to install
    • Follow the prompts and by default it will install in C:\Program Files\Trendmicro\Hijackthis\Highjackthis.exe
    • Open HJT Scan and Save a Log File, it will open in Notepad
    • Go to Format and make sure Wordwrap is Unchecked
    • Go to Edit> Select All.....Edit > Copy and Paste the new log into this thread by using the Submit Reply and not start a New Thread.

DO NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Post the Malwarebytes log and a Hijackthis log please.

If it has been four days or more since your last post, and the helper assisting you posted a response to that post to which you did not reply, your topic will not be reopened. At that point, if you still require help, please start a new topic and include a new HijackThis log with a link to your previous thread. Please do not add any logs that might have been requested in the closed topic, you would be starting fresh.
