    Default Updateing

    When I do a windows update is everything on my computer updated that is made by microsoft? Like Messenger, DirectX and some drives?

    Also how do I update Drives?

    Yes visiting Windows Updates will 'patch' the OS, browser, directX, and MS office components as well as others. Messenger I am not sure about. You could visit the link below and get the latest version:

    you can also search by product/name here for possible updates to MS products:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx

    You could also use the auto update feature in Windows to check for and download the updates automatically.

    Drives use firmware but unless you are having a specific problem then its not necessary to apply the latest firmware.
    firmware would come from the component manufacturer, not from MS
