The link about router infections was posted for the information so you would know that possibly that is your problem and be aware of the possibility. Please understand that the hackers constantly change how they infect computer and two infections are rarely just alike.

Do you get the same error message for both? You are getting online with another computer it appears, what is different in how you are connecting?
Have you asked your Internet Service Provider to see if tech support can help get the computer online. There are things we can try but it is what they do and any changes we make could make it harder for them. You can try these but I strongly suggest you have ISP tech support try first.

    1) http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../cc781949.aspx

To flush and reset a client resolver cache using the ipconfig command
    Open Command Prompt.
    Type: ipconfig /flushdns

    2) http://windowsxp.mvps.org/winsock.htm

    3) Go to Control Panel > Network Connections.
Right-click on the network icons and select Repair.

    Thanks

If I did have a dnschanger trojan would any of the following clean it?
should I do all of the referred steps or may any one of them resolve the connectivity issue?
