    Hello california,

Spybot-Search & Destroy is freeware for personal use, and does not need to be purchased (although we appreciate any donation).

This is our home page: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/home/index.html

Spybot-S&D does not remove viruses, the application searches for spyware, malware, adware, trojans, hijackers and keyloggers. You should have a separate anti virus program installed.

    Is the computer infected?

    Best regards

Thanks for your message. Yes my laptop is infected by viruses. I downloaded the product and let it scan my computer - which it took like 4 hours to do so. it reported system was infected with adware and when i try to clean it, it took me to a registration page - where it asked me to pay. dont know, if i am looking at the right product. But appreciated if you could please let me know, what product i need to get to clean the adware etc.

    many thanks again,

That sounds like a typical rogue on an infected computer.

Please follow the instructions in this link to produce a HJT log: "BEFORE you POST"(READ this Procedure BEFORE Requesting Assistance)
