browser/slow computer

Not sure on what it is, symptoms include browser hijacking, google pages do not load, links are redirected, only option to counter this is to open a new window versus a new tab. Some programs will not run such as spybot, malware bytes anti malware, combofix. I can however update spybot. I will not use combofix unless directed I just tried to see if it would run. My Spyware Blaster, Hijack This and Trend Micro PC-Illin do run though Trend will not pick up any errors-problems.

Wondering why you are still running Internet Explorer v6.00?

Not sure what it is myself, but you have a load of running processs which can account for the slow computer, let's see if we can deal with the malware first. You likely have a rootkit infection so we will try to get combofix to run first. If it does not run out of the box, then try to rename it as posted.

1) TeaTimer NOT disabled as instructed?
We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:
* Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
* If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
* On the left hand side, Click on Tools
* Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
* Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
* Restart your computer.
(leave TT disabled until we finish)

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed

Please continue as follows:
Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix, link

Remember to re-enable them afterwards.
Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you. Post that report and a new HJT log

A word of warning: Neither I nor sUBs are responsible for any damage you may have caused your machine by running ComboFix on your own. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use

3) If combofix will not run, try renaming it like this:

You must rename it before saving it, save it to your Desktop.



4) Post also an uninstall list: Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.

Thanks for the help, I disabled my tea timer and renamed the Combofix. While it was running the laptop crashed or shutdown. I rebooted the laptop and started again, the same scenario played out. Upon rebooting I backed up the last of my files and used dells system recovery. This of course removed the problem. Thanks for your help anyway.
