On startup I keep getting an error when windows installer tries to run.

Error 1706 no valid source could be found for product update manager.

I tried to run system restore to possibly solve the problem but it won't work. It just keeps telling me my system cannot be restored. Help.

Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

You must have read and followed the "Before you Post" instructions.

I suggest you read all pinned (sticky) links posted at the top of this forum, they are placed there for you.

Posting additional comments or logs before a volunteer responds, can push you back instead of forward, because your thread ends up with a newer date. Also, helpers may think you are already being assisted because of the post count.

If you still want help, we will start out search for the reason for this issue like this.

1) Have you installed anything recently that would co-incide with the error message?

2) Read the directions, install HijackThis as instructed:
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis

3) Disable TeaTimer as instructed:

Before you post a HJT log
When Spybot-S&D is installed.
TeaTimer needs to be disabled so that its protection does not interfere with fixes.

4) Post a new HijackThis log after it is positioned as instructed.

5) Post also an uninstall list: Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.
