    hicarbon,

Looks like Malwarebytes removed that rogue program. It also looks like you posted the same HJT log that you posted originally. I need to see a new one please.

    • Open HJT Scan and Save a Log File, it will open in Notepad
    • Go to Format and make sure Wordwrap is Unchecked
    • Go to Edit> Select All.....Edit > Copy and Paste the new log into this thread by using the Submit Reply and not start a New Thread.

    Ken,

I have ran the HJT scanner 3 times and each time I get the notice

"For some reason your system denied access to the hosts file. If any hijacked domains are in the file, HJT may NOT be able to fix this."

It then proceeds to explain how to manually fix the domains should they be hijacked, continues the scan and then gives me the log in notepad.

Each log file that is created has the same "Scan saved at" time and date and also each one still lists the MalwareRemovalBot.exe and the 067 file afterwards that you originally instructed me to replace.

    Ryan

finally, after 2 different re-installs of the software (For whatever reason, after deleting the old log file, whenever a new one was created, it would come up blank). Here is the new HJT log file.

Great , thanks for being patient

Log looks fine but lets make sure there is no more of this junk not showing on the log.

First run this free online scanner and then run DDS.

Please run this free online virus scanner from ESET
    • Note: You will need to use Internet explorer for this scan
    • Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use.
    • Click Start
    • When asked, allow the activex control to install
    • Click Start
    • Make sure that the option Remove found threats is ticked, and the option Scan unwanted applications is checked
    • Click Scan
    • Wait for the scan to finish
    • Use notepad to open the logfile located at C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt
    • Copy and paste that log as a reply to this topic

Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
    • DDS.com
    • DDS.scr
    • DDS.pif
    • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
    • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
    • Notepad will open with the results, click no to the Optional_Scan
    • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
    • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.

Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

If it has been four days or more since your last post, and the helper assisting you posted a response to that post to which you did not reply, your topic will not be reopened. At that point, if you still require help, please start a new topic and include a new HijackThis log with a link to your previous thread. Please do not add any logs that might have been requested in the closed topic, you would be starting fresh.
