    Default Suspicious PC actions

    Hi,

My PC is acting kind of suspicious lately. The other evening my pc didnt't get past the windows XP home screen. I totally cleaned the hardware for dust withing the PC case. Started the PC a view times. Didn't work. Started up in Safe Mode. This worked. Tried to restore to an earlier moment. Worked but still didn't get past windows XP home screen. Finally after 2 day I started the PC and got into windows.

Also my internet explorer starts up really slow. CPU usage goed up and down like crazy!

So I've ran some scans with Norton, SpyBot, Malwarebytes, Ad-Aware but nothing comes up aswell as in safe mode.

I'm still not satisfied. Please be so kind to help me out here.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

If your antimalware apps and antivirus are coming up clean then we can probably rule out malware as a problem, besides malware wants and needs a functioning computer to be successful.

Many causes are possible. The best advice I can give is for you to backup anything you cant afford to lose while the computer is still functioning and you can easily get it off the machine. Consider posting in a another forum for possible trouble shooting steps. You could also attempt a repair of your installation using the original media or a reformat/reinstall. Since you have had problems booting into the desktop i really dont want to suggest any more anti-malware tools which may require a reboot and possibly leave you without a desktop.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.

PC starts up without any problem. Only problem now is the fact that IE7 operates strange. I have to open it a cuple of times and then delete the process in task manager. After a few times IE7 finally opens, but slow.

What do you suggest before I take and follow up on your advice in your last post?

    Thanks

You can try installing IE8.0 via Windows update. Have you tried another browser like Opera or Fire Fox?

In the past I have used Opera ande Firefox. In my opinion, IE works best for me. I'll try the upgrade to IE8. If it doesn't seem to help, I'll downgrade to IE7. Maybe it will solve the problem!

Thanks for your help! Much appreciated!

Thats all I guess, unless you want to know whath the outcome is?

ok your welcome. You can get IE from Windows Update. Need to pay a visit anyway unless you have the auto update feature turned on.

Tuesday the 13th MS released a boat load of 'patches' to plug all the holes in Windows, IE, Office etc.

If it dosnt work out for you-- IE8.0 can be removed, see link. You can let me know the outcome.
