Sorry for the long delay, I'm still recovering from the surgery and it's quite hard to move around still.
Anyway, I did everything on the Kaspersky website yet the scan yielded no found infections. I even had my current virus protection program off while I scanned a second time to see if it would have a different result, however it didn't.
    Here's my Kaspersky log:

Don't know why you had so many IEXPLORE.exe show up in your DDS Log. When you did the scan did you have IE windows open? If you did, try running DDS again without any IE windows open and see if all those IEXPLORE.exe lines show up again.

How is your computer doing now? When did you notice your computer becoming slower? Was it after you download/installed a program(s)? After you uninstalled a program(s)? After an update to Windows/one of your programs? Or did it happen out of the blue, you turned on your computer and it was slow, when it was fine the last time you turned it on?

Try these tips at the website below to see if they help speed up your computer:

    http://www.malwareremoval.com/tutori...ningslowly.php

Also, I'd like you to scan a file for me:

    Step # 1 Upload Files

    Go to Jotti
Copy the following line into the white textbox:
    c:\windows\system32\ctfmon_wy.exe
    Click Submit.
Please post the results of this scan to this thread.

If Jotti is busy, Go to VirusTotal and scan the file(s) there.

I made sure that all windows were closed this time around and ran DDS again. It didn't show a list of IEXPLORE.EXE this time but there was a few that remained in the log which I'll post in a minute.
I noticed my pc running slower after I had the hard drive wiped and all programs reset to 'factory new' from a pc repair store.
I followed and did some of those tips in the link you left, so I'll find if they worked later today.

I scanned that file on Jotti and one of the scanners found a infection.
    Here's the scan file:

2009-11-09 Found nothing 2009-11-09 Found nothing

Avira AntiVir was the only scanner that found anything.

I followed and did some of those tips in the link you left, so I'll find if they worked later today.
Ok, let me know how that worked out.

Based on what Jotti found, I'd like for you to do the following:

Step # 1: Download and Run ComboFix

We will begin with ComboFix.exe. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/comb...o-use-combofix

*Ensure you have disabled all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

    * IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply

At first I thought those tips would help out a lot, but sadly it didn't and I think I know why. While I was trying to load my email, due to the continuos slow speed, I opened my task manager thinking the email page had stopped responding. I noticed several more IEXPLORE.EXE running even though I only had one window opened and no other programs (apart from virus protection ones) running while trying to view the page.
Some of those iexplore.exe were using as much memory as 100k+.
Even as I type this I checked to see how many were running, and though not as much as yesterday, I still counted as many as five with still no idea why.
I may not be computer savvy but one open window means one iexplore.exe, right?

Anyway, here's the log file of combofix:

I may not be computer savvy but one open window means one iexplore.exe, right?
iexplore.exe should only show up in Task Manager when you have an IE window open. Since you have so many iexplore.exes in your Task Manager that means either malware is using IE to phone home/communicate with othe malware or a legit program is doing that and the legit program is broken somehow and keeps opening up new iexplore.exes in the Task Manager. Do you remember uninstalling anything recently, before you came here for help?

Also, do you remember downloading/installing any programs on August 29th of this year?

I'd like for you to scan another file for me:

    Step # 1 Upload Files

    Go to Jotti
Copy the following line into the white textbox:
    c:\windows\system32\wininet.dll
    Click Submit.
Please post the results of this scan to this thread.

If Jotti is busy, Go to VirusTotal and scan the file(s) there.

I'd also like you to do a Full Scan with MalwareBytes':

    Step # 2 Run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.
    • Before running a scan, click the Update tab, next click Check for Updates to download any updates, if available.
    • Next click the Scanner tab and select Perform Full Scan, then click Scan.
    • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
    • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
    • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location.
    • You can also access the log by doing the following:
    • Click on the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware icon to launch the program.
    • Click on the Logs tab.
    • Click on the log at the bottom of those listed to highlight it.
    • Click Open.

Post the Jotti results and MalwareBytes' Log in your next post.

No. I'm pretty sure nothing was installed (with my knowledge) prior nor on August 29th.
I scanned the file on Jotti, but nothing showed infections this time:

I updated MBAM and made sure to turn off my virus protection prior to scanning. It found some infections this time around. I'm not sure if it'll fix my problem though.
    Anyway here's the log:

Both the wininet.dll and ctfmon_wy.exe files appear to be fine. Both were created on the same date/time and if one was bad, the other should be as well. Don't know why one thing was found for ctfmon_wy.exe when you scanned it at Jotti. Possibly a False Positive on Avira's part.

And speaking of False Postives, the files you scan and quarantined with MBAM are false postives.

Please open up MBAM and click on the Quarantine tab and select all the items that were quarantined have a check by their name:

C:\System Volume Information\_restore{B537FA0B-3CB3-4365-9E21-C190A91180DB}\RP2\A0000023.sys (Rootkit) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\ReinstallBackups\0003\DriverFiles\i386\atapi.sys (Rootkit) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.
C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$\atapi.sys (Rootkit) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully

    Then click Restore.

Once that is done, update MBAM (making sure that the database version is higher than 3143) and do another Full Scan and post the new log.

    Thanks.

When does your computer slow down? Is it only when you check your e-mail? When you surf the web? When you a running a program/doing other things? or all of the above?

Also, you mentioned you noticed the slowdown after your Hard Drive was wiped and everything was reset to "factory new." When you got your computer back did you notice any new programs that may have been installed by the PC repair shop?

Go ahead and post a fresh DDS Log in your next post.
