Default Can not immunize Global Hosts file, nor remove Microsoft.Windows.ReirectedHosts entry

I am running Spybot S&D on Win XP SP 2, in Safe Mode and on the administrator account, and Spybot S&D is fully updated.

When I run a scan, it shows Redirected Host entries that is a result of a malware infection that has otherwise been cleaned up, but when I select for spybot to fix the problem, an error comes up saying it cannot create a file at c:\windows\system32\....

The same error message appears when I try to immunize the hosts file, and also when I try to manually remove the bad entries manually on spybot's host file browser.

    Help?

    Default

You can edit the hosts file manually in Notepad. It is at
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

Right click on the Hosts file, click properties, uncheck read only if it is checked, click Apply OK. Then open it in Notepad.
