Exclamation Malware or Virus or Trojan has attacked

    Happy New Year.

A Malware or Virus or Trojan has attacked my computer. Please help.

Couple days ago, a popup call Malware Defense start to install itself. I tried to close it & cancel it, but the Malware Defense Software auto installed itself anyway.

I was able to uninstall it, but within minutes it REINSTALLED itself again. So I uninstalled it again. This went on for couple times, and now it does NOT auto reinstall itself.

Computer starts locking up & hesitate. Every once in a while there are Broadcast (voice like radio or advisement) coming out of the computer.

Worst of all, I was unable to run my Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, and McAfee that were already installed in the computer. Seems like Malwarebytes & McAfee have disappeared from the computer. Tried to reinstall both softwares or even rename the setup.exe file .. but it all failed.

I did a scan using CCleaner, ATF Cleaner & Lavasoft Ad-Aware and was able to stop the Auto Reinstallation of the Malware Defense Software popup but cannot proceed further using other Anti-Malware or McAfee. Restored the system to earlier date, but not helping.

Thanks so much for your help.

I was unable to run my Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (and McAfee) that were already installed in the computer. Seems like Malwarebytes has disappeared from the computer. Tried to install from fresh using your link or even rename the setup.exe file .. but it all failed. Checked the c drive program folder, the MBAM.exe and related files are there but just CANNOT run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.

Anyway here is the RootRepeal log:

    Good Morning,

Your infected with a Rootkit that's preventing most security programs from running.

Follow these directions because if Combofix is not renamed it won't run

Download Combofix from any of the links below. You must rename it before saving it. Save it to your desktop.

    Link 1
    Link 2

    * IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

    • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools
    • See this Link for programs that need to be disabled and instruction on how to disable them.
    • Remember to re-enable them when we're done.

    • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

    • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

    • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply along with a New Hijackthis log.

*If there is no internet connection when Combofix has completely finished then restart your computer to restore back the connections.

I did the ComboFix Scan, but I was UNABLE to turn off the McAfee because the McAfee System Tray Icon was gone & I could NOT even run it via the c:\Program Folder or Start Menu.

However, after the ComboFix completed, McAfee System Tray Icon has reappeared & I was able to active it.

Lastly, the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware that was previously installed in the computer is still UNABLE to run.

Anyway THANKS, you are like a star.

    Hi,

C:\Program Files\BitComet <--We do not support the use of P2P (File Sharing Programs ) they have become the latest source of infections, your downloading that file from an unknown source and some of those files can contain malicious programs bundled with them. You would be doing yourself a big favor by uninstalling this program via the Add Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

    Please download OTM by OldTimer.
    • Save it to your desktop.
    • Please click OTM and then click >> run.
    • Copy the lines inside the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    Code:
    :Processes
    explorer.exe

    :Services

    :Reg

    :Files
    c:\windows\system32\krl32mainweq.dll

    :Commands
    [purity]
    [emptytemp]
    [start explorer]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the "Paste Instructions for items to be Moved" window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
    • Click the red Moveit! button.
    • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
    • Close OTM

Note: If an item cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

You have SuperAntiSpyware installed , open it, check for updates and run the scan and post the log please

Due to inactivity, this thread will now be closed.

If it has been four days or more since your last post, and the helper assisting you posted a response to that post to which you did not reply, your topic will not be reopened. At that point, if you still require help, please start a new topic and include a new HijackThis log with a link to your previous thread. Please do not add any logs that might have been requested in the closed topic, you would be starting fresh.
