Infection causing BSOD in safe mode, no internet, very slow

I am ashamed to have another problem that i need to post here, but this problem is seriously over my head.

I had a virus infection that seemed to come from an activex control in internet explorer or firefox(not sure, i had both open). The infection disabled the task manager, system restore, changed my desktop to a "warning", and seemed to cause my avg to detect an infection in 2 drivers. I have since attempted to remove the infection with malwarebytes anti malware and AVG. I thought it was gone, however now i have no internet on that computer even when connected to the network, Internet explorer and firefox are exceedingly slow, and winpatrol keeps telling me that logon.exe wants to run on start up. finally, and most troubling, i cannot restart my computer in safe mode, i get a blue screen when it attempts to load the drivers, but it will start in normal mode just fine.

any help would be greatly appreciated, and unfortunately I do not have a restore/windows cd, it didnt come with my computer.
