Many "Error during check" errors

I have run Spybot v1.6.2 on a Japanese PC and got what looked like 100s of these errors:

"Error during check.....[a spyware name].... Unmatched"

What could be causing this? Is this something to do with the fact that it was the Japanese version of XP? (Windows XP Home, SP2).

Update: there are 1789 of them, and the exact form is as follows:

Error during check!: AdDestination [249 - $13A9BF15] (TRegExpr(comp):
Unmatched [] (pos 14)) (Status)

Just the name of the spyware and the numbers in the square brackets change.

Is there any other security program installed?
Does the scan run to the end?
Is anything found besides those errors?

Avira AntiVir is installed, this scans OK.

MalwareBytes AntiMalware free version was installed, but uninstalling it makes no difference. This also had an error during scanning.

The Spybot scan completes. Other than the 'Error during check's it just found a few cookies.
