Default Opera 10 *really* incomplete immunization

For me, Opera 10 is recognized by SpyBot 1.6.2 as part of the Opera 4.x family rather than a later version. As a result, the only immunization option available is Plugins. Is there any way to correct this?

    Hello,

This seems to be a common problem where no solution is present at the moment. With the new version Opera has made some changes, that affect the immunization. Please deactivate the cookie immunization of Spybot-S&D, to complete the immunization. Please note that after undoing the immunization of Opera 10 a re-immunization of Opera 10 currently may not be possible, even if Spybot-S&D shows a success.
We are working on this item to solve this problem as soon as possible.

    Best regards

So it appears that Spybot S&D is sort of useless for all Opera 10 user at the moment. I'm no coder, so i ask myself, is it really that hard to adapt the code to reflect the recent directory and filename changes in Opera 10?

And: When will we be able to upgrade to a new, working version of SS&D? Soon is no detail, an ETA would be nice to know... I feel uncomfy not being able to immunize Opera for months now.

Personally, I wouldn't even think of using the Opera browser if I cared about my security. Unlike either Internet Explorer 8 or Firefox it has little built-in protection and what does exist has been shown in tests to be relatively ineffective or at least not very stable.

Not providing standardized interfaces for security applications is a sign of an application that isn't yet mature, so it's risky to depend on for anything other than casual browsing.

    Hello,

    I totally agree with bitman.
Further we won't make any program updates for the actual version, as we are already working on the new version.
The immunization with Opera should work in our new Spybot version 2.0.
But as we are still working on that version there is no release date yet.
To stay up to date you can have a look at our news section on our homepage from time to time.
Or have a look at the beta section in our forum.
Further you will be informed whenever there is a new version out.
We have integrated this function into our current version Spybot - Search & Destroy.
So, whenever there is a new version you will get a notification when you are searching for new updates.

If you have Twitter you can also get the latest news live from our lead developer Patrick Kolla. Just follow us on Twitter.

    Best regards
