    Default Host file

I opened notebook and modified the Spybot according to instructions, adding five addresses that I want blocked. But on going to the Host list on Spybot program, they are not on the list.In addition when I go to a new web page, such as The Jerusalem Post, these items are trying to gain access. What am I doing incorrectly? Please help.

    Default Host file addition

On trying to go to this page, the following occurred, -switch3.castup. net- trying to connect. This is an example of my additions to host file not working. switch3.castup.net was one of the additions I added to host file, and it should not have been trying to connect or waiting to connect. Please help me and tell me why my additions do not work.

    Hello,

I'm sorry, but due to which instructions?
Which version of Spybot do you run?

    Best regards

Thank you Sandra. I am using spybot 6.1.9.214. I got instructions from notebook, where list of host file explained how to add items for stopping and then to save the new host file. I lost my original spybot and am trying to find one I had. This one is not the one, as when I run spybot it checks about eight hundred thousand files. The spybot I lost checked one million six hundred thousand files. I tried using the newest spybot but had to leave it as it is completely different. I there a spybot 7?.

We don't have such a version.

Perhaps you have Advanced SystemCare Free 6 - 6.1.9.214 which is from a different company.

Our software, Spybot-S&D, is at version 2.1 http://www.safer-networking.org/private/

Do not write such nonsense. Spybot is a registered name. And older versions of spybot are available. That spybot only wants to distribute the newest version is not my concern. That spybot sets up a firm with a different name to distribute the newest version, whether the customer wants to upgrade or not is despicable. There are many comments where users of the latest spybot were dissatisfied and went back to an earlier version 6.1.9.214

As version 1.4 is not compatible with Windows 95 we need to give old download adresses to our useres. So thanx.

Edit: User's quote is to a post made in 2006. Versions 1.6.2 and 2.0.1 are supported here. At this time, 2013.

    Prior versions to our 2.0 release: 1.1 > 1.2 > 1.3 > 1.4 > 1.5 > 1.6

Still available for older PCs: Spybot – Search & Destroy® 1.6.2 (free for private users)

    Best regards.

    Default host file

Hello tashi Am I going to get an answer to my original query on host file? The last answer by sandra was there was not such a version as 6.1.9.214. Now it is admitted that this spybot is an earlier version.
