    Hi CP,

Kaspersky online scan may take several hours if there're lots of items to be scanned and/or if the drive is badly fragmented.

    Delete E:\Downloads\Solid Works\Solidwork 2007 SP0.0 Multilang DVD Edition.nrg file if it's not legit item.

You should check your Outlook email messages and delete suspicious ones (if any).

Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running ComboFix tool:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/comb...o-use-combofix

Please ensure you read this guide carefully first.

    Please continue as follows:

    1. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix, link
      Remember to re-enable them afterwards.

    2. Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please include the following reports for further review, and so we may continue cleansing the system:

    C:\ComboFix.txt

    Hi Blade,

The log file was actually saved to my desktop (default was the temp drive) as log.txt . I've renamed and attached it.

    Hi Blade,

Actually, the combofix file is 158kb - too big to upload apparently. Any workaround?

Ok - I've actually zipped it in order to attach. Hope this is ok.

    Hi again,

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

    Code:
    Driver::
    "Windows sharing object"

    Save this as
    CFScript

A word of warning: Neither I nor sUBs are responsible for any damage you may have caused your machine. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.

Close all browser windows and refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe
Then post the resultant log & fresh hjt log. Any issues left?

    Hi Blade,

I'm having trouble running the combofix script. After the drag and drop, combofix displays its progress bar which completes, but no log is created or displayed.

Pls let me know how to proceed.

    Regards,
    CP

    Hi,

Did you disable antivirus protection before the running attempt?

    Hi Blade,

Yes I did. It seems to run, the progress bar goes to completion, the hourglass pops up, and i don't get any antivirus or firewall-related errors. However, no log pops up or is saved in the default combofix folders.

    Hi,

    Let's pass ComboFix for now.

Disable protection software and start hjt. Click do a system scan only, checkmark:
O23 - Service: Windows sharing object - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\winvercp.exe (file missing)

Close browsers and press 'fix checked'.

Open notepad and then copy and paste the bolded lines below into it. Go to File > save as and name the file fixes.bat, change the Save as type to all files and save it to your desktop.
    @echo off
    sc stop "Windows sharing object"
    sc delete "Windows sharing object"

Double-click on fixes.bat file to execute it.

Reboot and post a fresh hjt log.

During restarting my computer to complete the initial HJT cleanup I encountered a memory error. Computer shutdown and restarted before I could write it down (normal shutdown due to HJT cleanup).
