    Default Virtumonde.sci help

I ran a scan using spybot and was able to fix during safemode, but the virus is still on my computer. After I ran a few scans and tried to fix I did a system recovery and now computer is running better, but virtumonde.sci is still here and I can't seem to get rid of it. Since recovery I have installed spybot and updated Windows and my computer. Also, I have turned off tea timer. Here is the Hijackthis report.

    Hi,

    • Download OTL to your desktop.
    • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
    • When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output.
    • Copy-paste following contents into custom scan -area:
      netsvcs
      %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
      /md5start
      eventlog.dll
      scecli.dll
      netlogon.dll

      %systemroot%\Tasks\*.job /lockedfiles
      %systemroot%\system32\drivers\*.sys /lockedfiles
      %systemroot%\System32\config\*.sav
    • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
      • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
      • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post it with your next reply. You may need two posts to fit them all in.

    Default OTL.txt

    Hi Blade,

I'm trying to post the OTL.txt, but the forum is stating it is too long at 78233 characters and needs to be shortened to 64000 characters. What should I do?

Please have it archived into a zip file. That should be attachable.

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for the logs. Which version of Spybot you have installed there?

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

    • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
    • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
    • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
    • Once the program has loaded, select Perform a quick scan, then click Scan.
    • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
    • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
    • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location.
    • Please post contents of that file in your next reply.

Run Spybot and post back the report if bad items found.

    Hi Blade,
I installed and ran Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, but the scan did not find anything. Also ran Spybot scan and nothing was found. I am using version 1.6.2.46. I'm not sure if these means anything or not, but during the Spybot scan I still see virtumonde.sci. Here is the log from Malwarebytes.

    Hi,

during the Spybot scan I still see virtumonde.sci
It's normal that infection names are present during the scan. Shows what infections program is able to detect in general. It's the final results that matter

    We can uninstall OTL now.
    • Double-click OTL.exe.
    • Click the CleanUp! button.
    • Select Yes when the
      Begin cleanup Process?
      prompt appears.
    • If you are prompted to Reboot during the cleanup, select Yes.
    • The tool will delete itself once it finishes, if not delete it by yourself.

Note: If you receive a warning from your firewall or other security programs regarding OTL attempting to contact the internet, please allow it to do so.

Logs look otherwise good but there're some vulnerable versions there. Run Secunia vulnerability check here and fix its findings.
