Threat database issue causing system crash

I used Spybot 1.6.2 to remove an instance of Virtumonde on my computer (nasty piece of software, even after Spybot removed it there was still a startup entry in the registry I had to eliminate), and now every time I scan my system it appears to try to scan beyond the 130000 potential threats in the threat detection database. Tonight it hit over one million potential threats scanned for before the system crashed. Has anyone ever seen this occur, and if so what is the solution?

Hello,

What exactly do you mean by crash?
Does the pc shutdown?
Does your system freeze?
Do you get any error message?
Do you have any other security software on the run?
Did you close your browser during the scan?
