I have discovered the problem is with my belkin usb wireless dongle, I rang their tech support which was pointless as they said its my PC.

I decided to put a wired connection to my pc and the net all sites work fine. The combofix has removed the right media problem I had before. So I will follow above on how to get rid of combofix, unless you say otherwise? As for the USB i don't know if there is a fix I need or if I should flog it? or whether the fact I use a N series router and the USB is a G series causes some conflict?

ok good. You can remove combofix like this:

start>run and type in combofix /uninstall
    click ok or enter
note the space after the x and before the /

I rang their tech support which was pointless
i believe it, its always something else. most phone tech support is worthless, they read from scripted answers.
I assume you tried the usb dongle in another usb port.

b,g and n adapters and routers are backward compatible. You can mix and match.
