using spybot offline?

I have a windows xp desktop that suddenly has unbelievably slow internet speed. I'm guessing it's a spyware problem, as i have tried all the other usual fixes.

But when I try to install spybot and it tries to connect with the internet, the thing always times out and fails.

I have the 1.6.2 program and latest update version 2010-06-30 on the computer (transferred them manually from another computer).

Is there anyway i can install and run spybot without being online? Thanks, Bill Conover, Beloit, WI, USA

Did you manually transfer the Spybot program,or the Spybot installer?

You could download the installation and the manual updates onto another computer,copy these to a CD or USB stick and then install Spybot.
(During the installation,uncheck the the checkbox in front of "download updates during installation" or "Download Updates immediately",so Spybot won't check for updates during installation.)
