spybot s&d won't load on my computer anymore. help!

Hi guys. I;ve been trying to run s&d version 1.4.0.3 on my windows xp pc. recently, when i select the shortcut from the start menu, the normal loading bar pops up, but it stops after loading fully and i eventually have to force quit. can anyone help me figure out why it won't open anymore?

oh, if it helps, i had a win32 infection a while back, but i thought i dealt with it.

Can't upgrade because I don't have admin privileges.

And I scanned with Norton Antivirus and it was supposedly deleted from my computer.

Please clarify. It is your computer but you don't have an Administrator account, or are you trying to upgrade from within the program and Spybot-S&D informs that you don't have administrator privileges?

update: GMER will not run on my computer, I get a bunch of "Access denied" errors. RootRepeal gives me "Decompression Error (5)" and SpyEraser comes up with an "Internet Explorer Script Error" which refuses to leave my screen no matter how many times I press yes, no, or x.

If you would like someone to take a look at the system please see this FAQ "BEFORE you POST"(READ this Procedure BEFORE Requesting Assistance) which also includes instructions on posting a preliminary DDS log.

Then start a new topic in the Malware Removal Forum and a volunteer analyst will advise you when available.
