Can i keep the windows firewall On (enabled) if i have a third party firewall. Since i cannot and would not want to remove the windows firewall.
So is it ok to have more than one software firewall On at a time on the computer?

Hello venus_n,
Speaking specifically about software firewalls.
Rule of thumb is one firewall/one anti virus program resident to avoid conflicts, loss of program efficiency and system lock up due to both software products attempting to access the same file at the same time.
Which operating system is this, personally the native Vista or Windows 7 firewall works well for me without the need for a third party software.
Best regards.

Its windows XP.
So do you think i should disable the winodws firewall in that case??
Hi venus_n,
From the So how did I get infected in the first place? thread.7.) It is critical that you use a firewall to protect your computer from hackers. We don't recommend the XP firewall that comes built in to Windows. It doesn't block everything that may try to get in, and the entire firewall is written to the registry. As various kinds of malware hack the Registry in order to disable the Windows firewall, if using XP it's far preferable to install one of the excellent third party solutions.
If you do choose to install a third party software Firewall remember to disable the native XP one at that time.
Best regards.
