problem with microsoft updates..

My computer downloads microsoft updates and it looks like its going to do fine but when it goes to install them 99% of them say "failed". When you click on the failed update it says "error code 643" or "error code 646". My computer also locks up regularly now. I wonder if i have malware or something but scans dont show anything. Any advise/help is appreciated.
