Spybot Freze problem.....

I have a user I'm trying to help out who is not very experienced technically.

Here is the problem:

She had DAP installed some time agao, but removed it. Spybot found DAP, then froze upon clicking 'Fix'.

User then uninstalled-reinstalled from different mirror. Same problem persists, tho, Spybot does not find anything. The app freezes when closing. He also followed all the instructions for manual removal found in the FAQs and still the app freezes after scanning. And he gets the 'program not responding' dialog box to either end now or cancel.

User is running Win2000 Pro.

About the only other things the user has done was install a couple of updates from Windows at about or near the same time all this began:
MS Javascript 814078
Malicious Software Tool KB80830

There are a minimal amount of apps installed, all well known apps.

Any suggestions?
