    bad internet connection, perhaps?

if you continue to have problems try downloading the Detection Updates manually from here:
    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

hmm, what kind of internet connection are u using, chrono? dialup (56k or ISDN) or broadband (DSL, cable or LAN)

check to see if wininet.dll file is in the \windows\system\ or \windows\system32\ folder.

BTW - what version of Windows are u using?

I use Windows XP SP2 with a DSL connection.

Maybe some process or other is blocking update.
Are you on internet when you are opened SpyBot-Search & Destroy ?
Are you changed some things in SpyBot-Search & Destroy ?
    Check.

    Hello,

Please take a look at the security settings of your firewall (if you are using one) and make sure that Spybot-S&D is not blocked. That should help to get into the updates. If Spybot-S&D is not blocked it is also possible that our server is temporarily not available. Please try again a few hours later.

If this does not help please download the updates manually:
    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
Here is the direct download link:
    http://www.spybotupdates.com/updates...d_includes.exe
Just download and run that file - it is self-installing.

    Best regards
    Sandra
