dpvsetup.exe registry value keeps changing

As of today, each time I reboot Spybot catches a registry change to system32\dpvsetup.

I've scanned using spybot and done a full virus scan and nothing is found. Likewise, I'm having no obvious problems with anything and DXDIAG finds nothing amiss.

Everything I find using REGEDIT concerning this seems harmless.

I'm simply stumped as to why my system keeps trying to change this value, and feel like something is going on.

Any ideas here?

I decided to do a selective startup and narrowed it down to my sound card software. I disabled it, rebooted, re-enabled and rebooted - problem gone.

I'm still not sure WTF caused this, as the only thing I did recently (ie yesterday) was update JAVA. I've been doing nothing with my soundcard - very strange.
