    Default Javaw.exe possible false positive

    Hi.

I got a notification of update to Java when I installed it spybot came up with a warning that it had encountered and terminated a process:-

    Process ID: 3952
    File name: javaw.exe
    Found in C:\progream files\java\jre6\bin
    Identified as: perfectkeylogger

Operating System is Windows XP Professional SP3
Browser and Version is Internet Explorer 8
Version of Spybot S&D is 1.6.2 (build: 20090126)

I am assuming that Java updates do not contain spyware and that this was a genuine Java update. My Java is Java 6 update 24.

    Please advise.

    Thanks

    Mike

It appears that a false positive occurred with the TeaTimer.
If you have other real time protection software running these may interfere with the TeaTimer causing such a false positive. In this case it is recommended to disable the TeaTimer:
    • start Spybot S&D
    • switch to advanced mode
    • navigate to tools - resident
    • uncheck the box for resident TeaTimer to disable the TeaTimer and remove it from system start
