Description:
Fraud.InternetSecurity2011 claims to be an antispyware tool. When it is installed to the computer it finds a lot of harmless entries in order to frighten the user and make him buy a license to get the issue fixed. It uses rootkit functions to hide and preserve itself on the computer. It also disables real security software by deleting access permissions. Windows Update Service may also be deleted by Fraud.InterenetSecutiy2011 and its variants like XP Home Security 2011.
Removal Instructions:

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • The file at "<$LOCALAPPDATA>\<$ENV(ISdata)>".
  • The file at "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\<$ENV(ISdata)>".
  • The file at "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\pod.exe".
  • The file at "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\spm.exe".
  • The file at "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\srv<$ENV(ISservini_praefix)>.tmp".
  • The file at "<$TEMPLATES>\<$ENV(ISdata)>".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Fraud.InternetSecurity2011 uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.
  • Delete the registry key "srv<$ENV(ISservini_praefix)>" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\".
  • Delete the registry key "srv<$ENV(ISservini_praefix)>" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\".
  • Delete the registry key "srv<$ENV(ISservini_praefix)>" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\".
  • Delete the registry key "srv<$ENV(ISservini_praefix)>" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\".
  • Delete the registry value "svchost.exe" at "HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\featurecontrol\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION\".
  • Delete the registry value "svchost.exe" at "HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\featurecontrol\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION\".
  • Remove "<$ENV(ISdll)>.dll" from registry value "SecurityProviders" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\".
If Fraud.InternetSecurity2011 uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
