Aww... You moved all old threads from 2.0 beta old subforum? I wanted it as archive!

The release announcement says "Remember it is a beta and as such not a replacement for the stable version 1.6.2."

What does this mean in practice? Will v1.6.2 run along side the v2 beta? Do I need to uninstall v1.6.2 before installing the beta? Does the v2 beta provide less protection than v1.6.2?

I think it won't run alongside, as it could make problems. It should be completely replaced, and that's why it's not for replacement if you get problems later.

In practice, that means that bugs still remaining in such a beta could make it less protecting than a stable version like 1.6.2.

As for using them both, if the TeaTimer is disabled, I don't see any conflicts. I think not even with TeaTimer, but would have to check that with our test coordinator tomorrow.

Do they use same registry entries or Application Data locations?

No, they do not. Spybot - Search & Destroy 2 has its own section in the registry. :-)

    Hello,
if Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.6 is updated to the last version (especially the teatimer) and if the paranoid mode of teatimer is not enabled there should be no problems using the 2.0 beta alongside the old 1.6 .

    Best regards,
    Markus
