    Default Cannot login to websites

    Hello!

I'm not very good with computers, but you folks have helped before. Thanks in advance for your patience. (I've noticed over the last few weeks that my computer has been acting more and more strange.)

When I try to login to several websites and hit enter, I loop back to the login page and cannot get logged in.

I ran S & D, and Malewarebytes and both show no problems.

    Please help...thank you!

Open IE and under tools go to internet options then under browsing history click on the delete button and check these items as shown in the screenshot below and click the delete button, then apply, ok to close all the windows.

Okay! I have done what you requested.

The process took about 3 minutes for the small pop-up box "Delete Browsing Menu" to complete. I have done this procedure in the past and it seemed like it took much less time!

I have to say that I'm not very computer literate so some of the terminology is not very familiar. I very much appreciate both your assistance and your patience.

    Thank you very much.

Ok you are welcome. You can also download and occasionally use This. Go with the default settings.

it seemed like it took much less time
Maybe you had less items to delete then.
Hows the log in situation? You use mainly Internet Explorer for browsing?

Still having some issues, although a little better than before.

There is one website in particular. I go to login screen and type in info. Then i get to the homepage. If I click on ANY link from the homepage, it takes me back to the original login screen.

Interestingly, before I deleted the history, I would never get past the login screen on this website!

As far as Internet Explorer goes, that's the only browser I've ever used. I'm not too good with computers, so I've hesitated making changes away from the stuff I already know.

There are so many new things in technology that I can't keep pace.

    Thanks for the help.

    What next?

Should I download and run the CCleaner?

You doing fine so far, no problem.Make sure peer guardian isnt running. You will see its blue cube looking icon near the clock if it is running. You can right click and exit on the icon if its active. This could be a issue although it would also block access to certain web pages in its block list not just log ins. Something tells me you didnt install it yourself?

Lets set IE back to its defaults. With IE open go to tools>internet options and click on the advanced tab. Click on the Reset button, then in the new window select the Delete Personal Settings check box, then the reset button, then close. Last close IE down and relaunch it. See screenshot

    Ok, I reset as instructed.

Here are several observations following reset:

    1. When I rebooted, it seemed as though the webpages launch much more quickly.
    2. As I grab the open webpage and move the screen around on my desktop, I don't get the "mirroring" / "tracing" effect that I was getting before.
    3. The first page that opened on reboot was asking if I wanted to download IE 8 and when I closed the page a pop-up asking if I wanted "Live Search" (or something else) came up. It says "Live Search" in the search bar next to the URL bar at top of page. This was not there before.
    4. On my favorites add-on bar at the top of the page there is a new icon for "Bing", "Yahoo! Mail" , and "Get More Add-ons". These were not there before!

As for Peer Guardian, that was put on the machine by a third party.

Lastly, should I download "CCleaner" and run it?

I think we are making good progress and I very much thank you!!!
