    Default Missing administrator shares

Have a small network one of the computers lost connection to the remaining network. trying to browse to the computer gets me the following error message "The server is not configured for transactions." Microsoft states that this is a symptom of missing shares and typical of a trojan. I have run anti virius software, spybot, etc... found many nasties but I still have this problem with net share.

Here is the HJT log I ran (after the preliminary steps were taken)

Welcome to the forum. If you still need help and are not receiving it elsewhere, while I can not say this will correct your problem but have a look:
    C:\WINNT\taskib.exe
    http://fileinfo.prevx.com/spyware/qq...ASKIB.EXE.html
O23 - Service: Network Station Task Manager (TSKIB) - Unknown owner - C:\WINNT\taskib.exe
Network Station Task Manager (TSKIB) X taskib.exe Reported by Kaspersky AV as Backdoor.Win32.SdBot.aad. Location Windows or Winnt folder.

Let's proceed like this, and I do tend to overkill.

    1) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    Click Yes to confirm.
    Click OK.

    2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
    http://www.atribune.org/public-beta/ATF-Cleaner.exe
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

    3) Disable the Service
Click Start > Run and type services.msc
Scroll down to Network Station Task Manager and right click on it.
Click Properties and under Service Status click Stop, then under Startup Type change it to Disabled.

    4) Delete the Service
Open HijackThis and click Config -> Misc Tools -> Delete an NT service.
In the Delete window, type (TSKIB) and press OK.
OK any prompts, close HijackThis, and restart your computer.

    5) CounterSpy may block the HJT changes we must make,
    • Right Click on the CounterSpy Icon located in your system tray.
    • With your mouse, hover over Active Protection Status (This should be enabled)
    • A menu will slide out, then right click on Disable Active Protection

Once your log is clean please re-enable CounterSpy.

    6) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/cust...search/ie.html
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/cust.../www.yahoo.com
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =
    O21 - SSODL: mswebhlp - {DECA39C1-F713-11D2-BA99-0080C8E9491A} - (no file)
O23 - Service: Network Station Task Manager (TSKIB) - Unknown owner - C:\WINNT\taskib.exe

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

    7) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\WINNT\taskib.exe <<< delete that file (may be gone, just don't miss it)

    8) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
    Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post a new HJT log alone with your comments. How is it running now?

    Thanks...pskelley

Seems to have done the trick. A slightly different step I took was that Stopping the Network Station Task Manager service I had to Disable the service and reboot the machine to stop it. All the buttons were greyed out (even as Administrator) but that seem to stop the TaskIB service.
Also after Deleting the the Network Station Task Manager service the following did not show up in the HJT print out

    1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/cust...search/ie.html

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/cust.../www.yahoo.com

The only other thing that I did to get the net shares to work again was to change the registy sub-keys for AutoShareServer and AutoShareWks from 0 back to 1. I guess TaskIb was forcing those value to 0? Now I am able to browse to this client from the other machines on the network.

    Thanks for the help!

Thanks for returning the information and for the feedback.

    These: R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/cust.../www.yahoo.com
were Yahoo adware, and yes Yahoo is in bed with the enemy.

I see no malware in your HJT log and wish they were all this easy. If all is back to normal, here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
