    this is what shows up when I hit f122

    Boot option menu

    1. IDE 0:ST9160314AS
    2. NETWORK BOOT: ATHEROS BOOT AGENT



    I have tried both of those and nothing the computer starts but doesnt boot from the thumb drive

    Again in case I didnt tell you I appreciate all this I know how it got into the computer and who the culprit was........

    Hi,

    See if BIOS (you should see instructions to entry BIOS right when you start the system) has USB set as 1st booting device.

    Please try to re-create the USB contents by following those steps given. There should be more contents in that drive than just one file. If that fails we need to try bootable cd (in that case you'll need an empty cd).

    I will try that this morning but unfortunately the laptop does not have a cd drive it is a very basic laptop its one of the small ones. will post results later.

    I attached a screen shot of the Xpud usb installer please tell me if there is something that needs changed. Cause I redownloaded it and tried to put it on the usb but again just the one file is on the usb. Also I dl both things one is
    unetbootin-x-pud-windows-387 and the one that says xpud-0.9.2 is there something I am suppose to do with the second thing I dl???

    Hi,

    You have to select xpud-0.9.2.iso to that diskimage option. Sorry for forgetting it from my instruction set.

    It still will not give me the option to boot from the thumbdrive. Next question if I restore my computer back to factory settings will that cure the problem or will the thing still be in my pc?

    Hi,

    I'm not totally sure if that would cure your problem. Could you check the usb contents? Also, I'd like to know if you're able to get into BIOS. What brand and model is the laptop?

    Yes I can get into the BIOS the laptop is an Acer model Ao532h. I am gonna try again this morning I just got mad at it yesterday. The thumb drive I believe now has everything need to boot the computer
