Things seem fine now, even after turning the computer on and off.

Thats good, so use your computer for a day or two and make sure all is ok, as soon as I hear back with info on the hosts file I will let you know
Let me ask you, did you by chance upgrade this computer from Win 98 to XP ?

Sound good thanks.
No, it may have been purchased refurbished though as it was a graduation gift I got almost 5 years ago if that could have anything to do with it.

The reason I asked is that the hosts file in Win 98 is in C:\windows. Be back soon

Hi, its been pointed out that this system is really out of date, I was going to mention it to you when we where done, doing all the cleaning and running programs to remove stuff is futile as being outdated as it is you running a real good risk of leaving yourself open for infections.
Go to Start > All Programs > Windows Update and see if you can download and install SP3 (Service Pack 3 )
