Default "Warning - Security Shield installed sucessfully) poped up out of the blue.

Hi there, my name is Sherman.

A windows popup "warning - security shield was installed successfully" displayed itself out of the blue. I have not seen this before, so assumed something was up. I have read the "before you post" section and have the ddf output below, with the attached attach.txt as zip file

Also I have run ERUNT to backup registry. The popup happened when researching the true temper black gold golf shaft, at the truetemper website.

    Hi,

Have you noticed any symptoms after that thing happened?

Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and run a quick scan with it. Post back the report.

Hi Blade81, and thank you for your help...

The only thing that happened was when I tried to run the dds, my pc crashed and went to a blue screen stating a serious system error. It shut down but was able to restart it. I retried the dds and it completed successfuly. Prior to the popup (1-2 days), I found that my internet connection icon at the bottom right of the screen (i think its called the sytem tray) had a red cross indicating that there was no connection to the internet, even though I did have one. This I found strange, but remembered I did a system restore in the past to resolve the issue, so I did it again and it resolve it again. I also remembered doing a full system scan with my enod32 antivirus, and it found 7 infected files, cant remember what it did with them. It also terminated a connection with the site www.truetemper.com (golf club shaft site) as it detected a threat of some kind.

When this popup occured informing me that the security shield was successfully installed. I did a google search and found that it could be a virus. And I eventualy found my way to this site for help. Wasnt to sure on the seriousness of this, but was concerned about what this virus was doing in the background...

I have done a Malwarebyte quick scan. and this is the output:

    Hi,

Logs don't show signs of malware activity. If there're no symptoms it looks like attack didn't success with infecting the system (or then ESET killed it).

Anyway, I recommend to download and run Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI) and fix its findings. Leave the program installed so you'll stay alarmed about vulnerable components in future too. Nowadays, big part of infections are received by surfing with vulnerable system (either vulnerable operating system or some of its 3rd party apps/plugins) on exploited web site. By keeping system up-to-date this risk is much lower

    Thanks Blade81,

So the Security Shield that was successful installed is no longer there because the enod antivirus got rid of it. How can I make sure its no longer there or installed?

I am currently running the Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI) and attempting to fix what it finds. If my system is no longer infected, I would like to thank you Blade81 for your help, and patience...Thanking you

    Sherman
