Description:
Fraud.XPDefender2013 is a Trojan horse that pretends to be a security software. It shows intentional false positives and various warning messages to scare the user into paying for a full version of Fraud.XPDefender2013 to remove the reported issues. Fraud.XPDefender2013 also redirects all calls to exe files to itself thus blocking execution for most software on the computer. It also disables the Windows Firewall and security messages leaving the computer more vulnerable to other attacks.
Removal Instructions:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • The file at "<$COMMONAPPDATA>\6o4v7yr6ikfw18072u".
  • The file at "<$LOCALAPPDATA>\6o4v7yr6ikfw18072u".
  • The file at "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\6o4v7yr6ikfw18072u".
  • The file at "<$TEMPLATES>\6o4v7yr6ikfw18072u".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Fraud.XPDefender2013 uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.
  • Remove ""<$LOCALAPPDATA>\<$ENV(XPDefender_praefix)>.exe" -a "%1" %*" from registry value "" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe\shell\open\command\".
  • Remove ""<$LOCALAPPDATA>\<$ENV(XPDefender_praefix)>.exe" -a "%1" %*" from registry value "" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.exe\shell\open\command\".
If Fraud.XPDefender2013 uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
