Spybot S&D 2.0 RC3 No Good for the masses

Hi! All,

Short review:

I've recently attempted using Spybot S&D 2.0 RC3 on my system but had severe slow downs and product couldn't properly install definition updates. Create Whitelist function freezes/stops responding leading to corrupts files or leads to storage cluster damage that requires the hard drive manufacturer's diagnostic tool (in my case the WD Diagnostics Tool) to repair most of the damage but multiple runs of CHKDSK /B followed by multiple runs CHKDSK /R through the Windows 7 Repair Computer function (similar measure can be taken in Windows Vista).

A fellow technician had an even less than stellar experience on Windows 7 Home Premium as it required them to do a clean re-install of everything (most likely from backup).

My System uses Windows XP Professional SP3 32-bit, Windows Vista Ultimate SP2 64-bit and Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate 64-bit.

Have you also tried the 2.0 final instead of the Release Candidate?

Hi! All,

I did install the final build of Spybot S&D 2.0 but I had to uninstall it because it made the system unstable. I did not see any real-time components listed in the free version; did I miss seeing them listed?

What exactly do you mean with unstable?
Currently there is no Live protection component in Spybot 2.

Since there is no Live-Protection into 2.0. you should not uninstall the 1.6.2.
