Howdy all,

I've noticed a few times in the last month or so (not really been keeping track) that svchost.exe would be running at 25% (ie a full core at 100%). Until now I have typically just killed the process with no percieved ill-effect.

This evening I did a bit more digging and I see this:


I admit there is a chance that it is simply by coincidence that a Spybot process is linked, but Process Explorer lists SDUpdate.exe as a child process. The child processes appear to not be "doing" anything. The 25% task is causing the fan to spin constantly, however.

In a small while I'll be shutting down the system and I shall check in before I do so. I appreciate that this is a small timescale to be asking for assistance but in the meanwhile, is there anything else I can do to help diagnose this issue before I do shutdown?
