WAIK Error: 87 The mount-wim option is unknown.

I've installed the latest version of WAIK on my Windows XP Pro SP3 computer. When I run the Boot CD Creator, I get the following in the log file:

Success.
CD was not prepared sucessfully!

Check the above for error messages, we could not create a valid ISO file.

Does anyone more familiar than I am with this process understand this error and how to fix it? An Internet search for that error message found this thread on the MSFN forum but that didn't really help me because I am not an expert at making boot disks.

I thought I'd add that I'm using Spybot version 2.0.12.0.

Did u download the correct version of the waik for ur windows version?
For example the latest version of the waik wont support xp, it only supports Vista/7

If u made sure, you have the correct version of the waik for your version of windows, please try the following:

From the "Deployment and Imaging Tools Environment" command prompt,
Enter the following command and press enter:

copype x86 c:\winpe_x86

(If everything works correctly, you will see some files being copied
and you will be at a new command prompt "c:\winpe_x86").

Enter the following command and press enter:

copy "c:\winpe_x86\media\sources\boot.wim" "c:\winpe_x86\winpe.wim"

You should see a message stating the 1 file was copied.
(This creates the winpe.wim file we need for the WinPE ISO Builder)

Before continuing, list the contents of the folder to be sure the winpe.wim file is in the correct location for the following steps.

Enter the following command and press enter:

dir

You should see a list of folders and the "winpe.wim" file.

If everything looks good, continue to step #4.
(Be sure to leave the command prompt open)

If not, close the command prompt by typing "exit" and pressing "enter".
Open an Explorer window and delete the "c:\winpe_x86" folder.

Also make sure, you open the command prompt with Admin rights.

Hmm. I had read that the latest version does support XP but I see from links like this that there are other things you need to have on your PC for that to be true.

I was able to find and download the last version of WAIK 1 (which will apparently only be available for download until April 2013). I will try installing that instead and see how it works.

It does work okay with WAIK 1 installed, so that fixed my problem.
