Default Spybot Free 2.0.12.2 Hangs during 'Fix selected'

    Windows 7 Ultimate SP1, 4 GB, Intel Core 2 1.83 GHz

After a 22 minute scan, Spybot found about 60 cookies.
When I clicked 'Fix selected' is hung ("Not responding").
I saw some constant disk activity and I waited for 15 minutes that stopped when I terminated the program.
I restarted Spybot and after it finished rescanning, the 60 cookies were gone.

    Hello,

    I'm sorry to hear that.
There were reports about a hang when to many cookies were fixed.
But it seems like the cookies were fixed although there was a freeze.
One thing that we would like to recommend is to block the cookies in your browser itself.

    Best regards

Thanks. It did happen again with 58 cookies.

If it helps, during the hang, as before, there is disk activity indicated about every second. That activity stops as soon as I terminated Spybot.

You can also try to delete all cockies from within your Browser. There should be an option for such into Settings of your Browser. Also you can type % temp% into Run and delete all the shown manually.

Freezes constantly for me too. It isn't just this guy. It's so annoying to go through the scan process only for it to freeze as soon as you press "Fix Selected".

Never had 1 problem in all the years I used the Original Spybot Search & Destroy... Ever since this "2.0" came out I have problems with it on every computer I put it on.

And believe me... I work with a lot of infected computers every day.

I think this jump was made too fast and forcing a shoddy program on your loyal users is going to drive A LOT of people away.......

    R.i.p. Spybot S&D.
