    Default Seagate FreeAgentService.exe

    - Windows XP Home Edition 5.1 Build 2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.120107-0416:Service Pack 3
    - Firefox 18.0.2
    - Spybot Search & Destroy 1.6.2.46, latest detection update 2/13/2013
    - TeaTimer Resident Log: 2/15/2013 6:58:08 PM Encountered and terminated Backdoor.FakeUtility in C:\Program Files\Seagate\SeagateManager\Sync\FreeAgentService.exe!

I believe this may be a False Positive, as the FreeAgentService.exe process is a part of the Sync Windows Services from Seagate Technology LLC.

Unless, of course, FreeAgentService.exe has actually been infected by Backdoor.FakeUtility, but that's not being detected by anything else.

    Your thoughts ?

    hello,

this is very likely a random TeaTimer false positive.
    Please do the following:
    • update Spybot S&D
    • restart your computer
    • restart the Seagate software
    • if the TeaTimer still reacts in the same way please send in the Seagate file for analysis
    • if the TeaTimer does not respond, it was a random TeaTimer false positive which can occur after updating and not restarting the TeaTimer/computer
born in the shadow to die in the shadow, that is the fate of the shinobi
