    Hi bhubertus,

    1. Steps 6 & 7

    Open the Control Panel and switch to "Classic View", check and see if Java is listed now.

    If so repeat step 6

    =========================

    Clear Java Cache

    • Start button, select Control Panel.
    • In the Control Panel, open the Java Control Panel.
    • Click on Settings button under Temporary Internet Files.
    • Click Delete Files button at the Temporary Files Settings window.
    • Click on OK button at confirmation dialog.
    • Exit the Control Panel.

    It's set up in classic view already. When I click Start, Control Panel is shown with a right-arrow that then opens a sub-menu with all of the Control Panel items listed alphabetically. There isn't a Java listing, but when I select Internet Options and go to the Advanced tab there is a "Java (Oracle)" setting with "Use JRE 1.7.0_21 for <applet> (requires restart)" checked. Also, under "Microsoft VM", "Java console enabled (requires restart)" is unchecked, "Java logging enabled" is unchecked, and "JIT compiler for virtual machine enabled (requires restart)" is checked.

    Hi bhubertus,

    1. Option 1 (try this one first)

    Click Start > Run > in the run box type "javacpl.cpl" (without the quotes) > then OK

    See if that launches the Java Control Panel

    =========================

    2. Option 2

    • Go to Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall all Java listed
    • Reboot
    • Then download Java 7 Update 21 and re-install

    Check and see if that corrects the problem

    =========================

    Ok, Option1 didn't work but Option2 did. Now I'm able to get to the Java control panel and I performed the instructions (i.e. disable Java content in browser, clear cache, delete files). I think I'm good now (hopefully).

    Thanks!!
