win32.downloader.gen infection

have encountered 'win32.downloader.gen' malware
spybot was unable to remove it.
Upon researching the malware it appears that removal is specific to the machine on which it resides.
furthermore, several posts ware against running the specific removal tools without guidance from an expert as running them may cause serious system problems and force reinstillation of the operating system.
I would appreciate guidance in diagnosing the problem, running the appropriate tools to remove 'win32.downloader.gen'.

In order for someone to advise please see the forum sticky which includes guidelines and instructions in post #2 on how to provide the preliminary DDS and aswMBR logs used for analysis.
