    Question SB finds 2 "disable notify" errors each scan. Clean, then shows back up- What to do?

    Hi! When I run S&D, it finds these two problems:
    "Windows Security Center.FirewallDisableNotify: Settings (Registry change, nothing done)
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Security Center\FirewallDisableNotify!=dword:0
    Windows Security Center.AntiVirusDisableNotify: Settings (Registry change, nothing done)
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Security Center\AntiVirusDisableNotify!=dword:0"
    I turn off System Restore, allow fixed, restart the computer, and all is well. Probs re-appear, repeat scan shows same 2 probs.
    System: WinXP, SP2; a450n HP Pav.; 512 MB Ram; 160 GB HD; Use FF primarily, IE prn; Use SB S&D; NAV/Norton Internet Security; Trendsoft; MS Antispyware.I have run Online virus scanners McAfee + Symantec (clear); Panda (found 2 Adware (whenUsave) but did not fix); F-Secure backlight (found nothing).

    You're using a 286, don't make laugh.
    Your Windows boots up, in what, a day and a half?

    Hello
    That log looks fine

    "Windows Security Center"
    Please see comment by md usa spybot fan here
    http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=250

    Also it could be that Norton has taken control of those settings

    Thank for for that link! That makes good sense...it seems like Norton has been a cause of most of my probs.

    Now, here is the strange thing (at least to me...) How come when I "fix" those problems with SB, my computer acts right again, but then when they return, all the problems resurface (slow reboot time of 5:00 average for shutdown portion alone; graphics linger on screen; clicking programs to open them makes them appear in task manager but they don't open: and I cannot close them from task manager..etc).

    In a semi-related question: if I wanted to uninstall Norton, which I think I do, but want to keep a copy of it because I did pay for it, how would I do that?

    /if this is in the wrong section or not the right place to ask this kind of question, I apologize in advance.

    Thanks!

    Hi

    Simply uninsall it, they have additional tools if there are problems
    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...&osv=&osv_lvl=

    But you should have already downloaded another program, wich shouldnt be installed untioll the other av is gone.
