We need to update your Java to keep you more secure
- Go to your Control Panel and click on the Java Icon ( looks like a little coffee cup ) click on About and you should have Version 7 Update 25, if not proceed with the instructions.
- Go to the update Tab and update it
- Important, during the upgrade UNCHECK ASK TOOL BAR. ( you do not need or want this )
- Then go to your Add Remove Programs (WIN XP) or Programs and Features (Vista / Win 7) in the Control Panel and uninstall all previous versions.
You can verify the installation Here
Open OTL and click on Clean Up and it will remove programs we used to clean your system along with there backups, any programs that where not removed you can just drag to the trash.
Malwarebytes is the free version and yours to keep and will not be removed
Safe Surfn

I checked and my Java is current with 7.0.250 as of 6-23-13.
I ran the OTL cleanup and rebooted. All the special programs have been sent to the bin.
I'm guessing we are about done, but before we close I have a question concerning my FF and IE. Just before I was invaded with toolbars both of these browsers started causing problems with hanging the computer. Is it within the purview of this bulletin board to help with these kind of issues?
Thanks

Yes, are they still causing you problems now, if so do this
Open IE and go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced Tab > Reset Internet Explorer Setting > Reset, this may take a few seconds and will set IE back to manufacturer defaults, then close out IE and open it and see if it made a difference.
Then open Firefox and click on Help > Restart with Add-Ons Disabled , close FF and then reopen it and see if it helped

I reset IE and it seems to be operating smoothly now.
Disabled the addons in FF. With them disabled it didn't flinch. Once they were re-enabled it hung up after a couple of minutes of use. I didn't run but a couple, adblocker and noscript. I will go look for newer versions. At least now I know how to disable them in the appropriate browser if they act up again.

It looks like with FF when you go to Help > Restart with Add ons disabled and you click ok that its giving you an option to Reset FF, this will set it back to manufacturer defaults just like you did with IE, you may want to try that.

I've reset FF. Things are running smooth again...
Another thank you for helping me sort out these two browsers.
