Sure enough, there it was, Spybot Anti-Beacon was trying to change hosts, still.. WTF?

Sounds like it might be a good idea to stick to the portable version?

Question Extend to Win 7 and 8.x?

I just suggested via the Contact Support form a version of Spybot Anti-Beacon that works likewise on Wn7/8.x do disable the back ported telemetry.
I even offered to pay for such a tool.
What are your thoughts about this?
    TIA
    Eike

Does it need updates to keep up with new tricks by Microsoft, or in all this time they aren't trying anything new?

bad news: blocking Microsoft domains through Hosts file does not work.

here's some more info on it:
    Code:
    http://www.securityfocus.com/archive/1/431032/30/0/threaded
suggested course of action: have Anti-Beacon create firewall rules that can be imported into a 3rd party firewall or router's dnsmask (if the system bypasses the hosts file, it's most likely bypassing Windows Firewall as well, but there's no definitive proof on that afaik)

Default Spybot Anti Beacon Office 16 telemetry block

For some reason, no matter how many times i click apply it does not listen to me and does not block
Office 16 telemetry scheduled tasks, any reasons as to why that may be and how to fix it

Default Entry missing choice.microsoft.com.nsatc.net in hosts file

Hope this gets to where it needs to and it does some good.

When using anti-beacon (everything enabled and applied), the hosts file is still missing 'choice.microsoft.com.nsatc.net' pointing to 0.0.0.0.

I analyzed information pulled from an Annon posting which pulled its information from Tech Worm and Major Geeks.

You guys are doing an awesome job, keep up the good work.

Default In Optional tab, Bing IP's cannot be blocked

I installed the last version and had everything blocked. I keep Windows Update disabled. Today I enabled it to install .NET framework 3.5 and disabled it soon after. I checked and no new update was installed. When I ran Spybot Anti-Beacon it shown 100% immunization but in the Optional tab Bing IP's was not blocked. When I pressed Apply nothing happens. Again, I had 100% immunization and everything in the Optional tab blocked before. Could somebody help me with this?

    Thanks

    Marco
