use computer when spybot wordking

Is it OK to run other programmes when Spybot is carrying out a scan?
I am using Spybot Home and when the scan started after a time it stated that it would take 2278 minutes to complete, which is nearly 95 hours!!!!
Have I possibly failed to set preferences or some other criteria?

It should be about 38 hours not as previously stated

Did you let the scan continue, once it's running the time frame often resets.

Yes, for about an hour but the "time left" remained high.
Since posting I have had a different result -
started at 10.30, time to complete started up to 340 minutes and then dropped to 67ish, at 11.35 the timeing note disappeared and at 12.00 it stated that the scan was complete and showed the results. I am now even more confused.
But my main q is - can other progs be run when spybot is scanning?

Any or all of the progs available within the microsoft package, a family history prog.

When you say Microsoft package I expect you mean programs like Office or Notepad and similar software.

Such are usually fine to have open while scanning with Spybot. If Spybot slows down and a browser is open try closing it.
