    Default What Are CouponBars?

What are CouponBars? Are they dangerous and should they be deleted from the computer?

    Thanks

    Hello Wendykins,

Some consider it a PUP, (potentially unwanted application) with popups on web pages and advertisements displayed as boxes containing various coupons that are available.

Is it installed on your computer?

    Best regards.

They seem to show up when I run a HitmanPro scan. Once I have run the scan, then they are deleted and do not show up on a further scan. After a day or so, they return and so I do another HitmanPro scan again and so the cycle continues.

How would I find them on my computer?

    Thanks

    Wendy

    Hello Wendykins,

    I can't speak for another program's detections.

Have you actually seen couponbar in action on your computer?

    Best regards.

I wouldn't know. I haven't the faintest idea what a "couponbar" is. What am I supposed to be looking for and where?

    Thanks

Unless you are seeing anything to do with coupons on your computer perhaps it is a false positive but as it isn't our software making the detection I can't confirm that.

    Best regards.

    Hello gwj1110,

CouponBar may have been bundled with other software that a user installs. Some software detects it as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program).

    Please see Optional Installs: https://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?279-So-how-did-I-get-infected-in-the-first-place&p=286306&viewfull=1#post286306

You might be aware that Win7 Home Premium is no longer supported by Microsoft and thus does not receive security updates and patches.

How is the computer running, do you have an anti-virus installed?

    Best regards,
