Default Slowing down my lap top.

    Hi All,
In the past few weeks my laptop which is normally very quick on the net has slowed down to almost dial up speeds. I see that Spybot is constantly updating its self.
When I go into settings and turn this off (spybot will no longer update till i turn it back on) My laptop is back to its old self. Anyone else seeing this problem or have a fix for it. Other than that it's a great product.
    thanks,
    interframe

Regarding the message about Spybot updating; please see here:

Regarding your PC being slower; it is possible that "Live Protection" is causing this issue.

If "Live Protection" is enabled, every program is scanned when it is started.

The benefit of this is that it protects against malicious programs or threats being executed or installed on your machine.

The downside of this is that it will slow down the loading of programs.

To disable "Live Protection" on Spybot, please do the following:

    - Open Spybot by right clicking on the Spybot icon and click “Run as Administrator”.

    - Click “Advanced User Mode”

    - Go to "Settings" then click on the "Live Protection“ tab.

    - Untick the checkbox for "Scan programs before they start".

    - Click "Apply“ and then "OK“.

There is also a button for "Show Live Protection advanced controls" on this page.

If you click this button you will see two options:

"Uninstall Live Protection (might need reboot)"

    or

    "Deactivate Live Protection".

You can choose either of these.
